Water Control
This was a wonderful class in learning about water control. The lesson about keeping the paper wet enough to complete a project was very helpful. I also learned a lot about controlling water on my brush. This was such an eye opening lesson which seems obvious now. Now I know that I really just want pigment on my brush, but especially when working wet on wet. I ended up doing this project twice. For the first time I followed this lesson, I rushed a little too much. I had struggled before with the paper drying out and I didn't realize how much more time I would have when wetting the paper multiple times. (I was already using Arches paper.) Needless to say, my first attempt showed all my colors spreading more than I wanted. I also wasn't focused enough on controlling the water on my brush, so my trees came out too light. On my second attempt, I see that the paper started drying out before I was done, but the practice was valuable and I can really see the difference between my two attempts. I definitely learned a lot in this lesson.
