Blender 3D for Beginners: Model a Mushroom Terrarium

Hello Blue! You've created a lovely mushroom terrarium complete with a new friend for the frogs! I love your approach of embellishing and further detailing the original class example! This is a perfect way to extend your learning by using the original example as your foundation. Great idea! First off, the basic example from class looks perfect. You've perfectly captured all of the details we went over while also making fun changes like material swaps and adding more grass! Your additional modeling and texturing in the following renders really steal the show though! The dragonfly is obvious focal point of your new and improved renders! I love seeing your in progress shots of modeling it using an image plane for reference. This is a foundational skill that all 3d artist learn and you've nailed it! This was a perfect way to simplify a challenging creature into manageable steps and shapes. This dragonfly really elevates the render (pun intended haha)! My favorite parts are the clear wings and complex body shape. Awesome job! The new pointed mushroom caps, complete with gills, add a bit of whimsy to an already charming render. I particularly like the camera angles from below the caps where you get a really good look at the gills! The new blue/pink color scheme looks great as well. Lastly, the new craggy rock you added fills in the areas nicely and provides a new visual texture for the scene. It catches the light in really interesting ways thanks to your repurposing of the log material! Overall, a fantastic class project! Also added a lil rock and used the "roughness" from the log to make the rock look... well, rocky. Added some of the gills under the mushrooms using the extrude along normals trick. c:
