Dear Shirley, What a beautiful portrait! I love the expression in your brushstrokes and the lovely balance of values — it gives the piece so much life and character. If you’d like to continue exploring portraits, I have a few other portrait painting classes available on my profile in the teaching section. In one of them, we paint this same girl in watercolor, and in another class, I show how to express hair in watercolor — where you can paint not only two duckling portraits but also a human portrait using those techniques.
