Intrusive Consciousness

Today I noticed it was easier.
Every day, I would wake, my mind immediately rushing to that consciousness mixed in with mine. It would consume and take over my life with an obsessive allure.
Today, it remained within the outskirts of my subconscious. Not forcing itself through to take hold of my conscious thoughts. Remaining but a shadow on the borders of my psyche.
I noticed it has become easier for me to control the thoughts, not having them intrude upon my life so violently. This, by definition, should mean I am becoming stronger, having more control, and being able to go longer without it distracting me away from my life goals.
I smile in victorious revelation at the thought of a future not being shackled like this.
Today, I noticed that as the day crept by, I longed for that consciousness and distraction. I realise in utter defeat and revelation that I have become accustomed to the feelings and the company.
It had become a silent companion in my dark days, and I no longer wanted it to part.
What am I to do? When I notice, my thoughts always go back to you.
