Thanks for the recommendation!
I very much enjoyed this lesson. Not only did I get to pull out some old charcoal sticks in the back of the art drawer, but I really appreciated the practice of directing my attention to just where the shadows were. I was able to draw right alongside the pace of Jerney and was so pleased with the process and how quickly the shape started to develop that I pulled another b&w photo from the web and tried that one as well. I think this type of exercise really helped me to stop paying attention to my mind's eye image of a face and just look at where the shadows fall. Will certainly be doing more of this (any recommendation on a less messy medium? :) )
Great recommendation - thank you!
