Original Story Breakdown

 

Sleeping Beauty Story Beats: Promised to the prince at birth, cursed at christening, raised by fairys, grows up in the woods. Age 18, meets prince, doesn't know it is him who she is promised to, curse comes to pass. Prince is taken by the bad guys, escapes with help from the fairys, defeats the dragon, breaks curse with true loves kiss. 

Setting: Magical kingdom and near forest.  

Characters Profiles:

Sleeping Beauty: Main character. Beautiful, kind, graceful, obedient, good singing voice, believes in dreams.

Prince: Brave, loyal, adventurous, reckless, not a bad voice. The three fairys: Aunts more then Mother figures. Protectors.

Maleficent: Antagonist. Curses baby Princess. Green, evil, has horns, truns into dragon.

Writing Style: Disney animation script.

Retelling Breakdown

 

Key Question: How can I prove that the prince is smarter then the movie gives him credit?

Setting: A Kingdom, in a world that has slight roots intertwined with a magical one.

Character Profiles:

Sleeping Beauty: Ceara, daughter of a Baker, descended from the one of the original seers. Seer, artist, herbalist, kind, generous, reserved. 

Prince: Nicolas, third son of the king, seer, leader of the kings spies. Brave, intelligent, observant, kind.

Story Beats: Dreams, the two heros meet. Secrets are discovered, covers are blown, a curse is wheilded. Puzzles are solved, curse lifted. Castle is under seige, they flee. Allies are found, enemies numbered. Worlds run threw, more curses broken. Ultimatum delivered. Dangerous missions undergone. A battle rages. Good is successful. Happy endings all around.

 

Retelling road map 

 

Section I: Beginning.

Dreams are more then thy appear to Ceara and Nick. They become friends in their dreams, at a dark turning point in their dreams Ceara knows she must help the young man, neither know who the other is. They meet at the castle after the fateful ball where the stories of Nicks siblings collide. They are surprised by how much they trust the other as soon as they meet.

Section II: Middle.

They help eachother by communicating threw their dreams and once Ceara is on the verge of discovering the final piece of the puzzle the Antagonists catch wind of her. They curse her to sleep forever, a mere week later Nick brakes the curse when he figures out she is the girl from his dreams. They and Nick's whole family flee the castle as the evil doers lay seige to them from on the inside. 

Section III: End.

They must now fight on the run, helping Nicks brothers find their loves and break a curse or two along the way. This leads to an epic battle in two worlds. And a happy ending in the which good has triumphed over evil.... for now.
