Playful Abstracts
Coming from a graphic design background I've found losening up in my illustration work a real challenge. Perfection has had me gripped for years. This new year I am determinded to play more. Create artwork just because it's fun, not because it has a purpose or aduience. This class was a great introduction to the world of abstract art. I'm obsessed..!

At first it was incredibly difficult to not be precise.

I resisted layering the shapes too, not sure why, force of habbit I expect. When I finnally let go and just experimented I really started to have fun. This next one I use all kinds of mixed media, from Posa pens and metaic paint markers, to brightly coloured Sharpies and soft pastle pencils. Just filling the page with mixed media marks, to use a inspiration for more pieces.

It was so freeing just watching to see how each painting evoled. Never before have I started creating without knowing what I was drawing. I would usually have an idea in my minds eye. Now I've open a door to pure joy.

This class was incredibly fun and captivating, I learnt so much. Thank you Suzanne, I intend to keep playing with mixed media.... I've even order some gouche paints.
