Why Are You Laughing?
This is a political cartoon referencing a particular moment that occurred in front of the US Congress involving the Attorney General. Instead of explaining why nobody has been held liable for a terrible series of crimes, she pivoted to the stock market.
My lettering is a bit weak but can be edited. I wasn't sure whether the clown figure needed a name tag? People paying attention to this (international) case will recognize the Dow comment as well as the name at bottom right, and will probably figure out who the clown is.
I struggled with the Capitol building a bit ... bouncing between "minimal" and "highly architectural" depictions. I finally decided on a minimal approach. Does that work? Also, I added a texture behind the artwork to (hopefully) mimic newsprint. Also, I kind of think that the clown is very intricate compared to the Capitol building. Should I simplify the clown or make the Capitol more intricate?
Your constructive criticism would be very welcome. :)
