Ten-second Film (Contentment/Peace)
The first film was shot in portrait mode on a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Lighting wasn’t too much of a concern, and there was no “story” (beginning, middle and end). The sounds were also just used from the original clips.
With the second film , we enjoyed learning how to create a screenplay. We added more content now that we had a theme in mind. (Now we have a beginning, middle, and end)
Theme: The feeling of being content, or at peace.
We wanted warmer colors because of the theme, so we filmed at a very specific time (during sunset.) We filmed on a tripod and used a Canon Rebel T7, which lead to the final film being landscape (16x9). Also with the “Content/peace” theme in mind, color grading was easier since we knew we wanted warmer colors. We recorded the sound of the espresso being brewed separately, and we added it in post-production. What a great class! We learned so much. How to write a screenplay. Before this class, color-grading felt a little aimless, but we’ve been taught fundamentals that will carry on over into our future projects.
