Here’s a closer look at my sketchbook spread that I created in this class.

And here’s my inspiration map that I used as the basis for my sketches.

Overall, I’m really happy with my work. Once the spread is finished, I like to push myself a little further by asking some questions:

  • What worked well?
  • What didn’t?
  • What could I improve?
  • Where are my weak points?

From the things that worked well, I can say that I really enjoy working with a strict color palette. I love seeing the color swatches right next to my sketches, and I enjoy painting shapes with a base color. I’m also proud of coming up with so many ideas.

Things I’d like to experiment with on another page of my sketchbook include choosing different shapes instead of squares. It could be fun to play around with circles or even blob-like shapes. I’d also like to use more gradients for base colors. (I think that would spark my imagination even more)

My weak point is composition. I think experimenting with different sizes and arrangements of rectangles will help improve this.

I’m really happy to have this spread in my sketchbook now, and I can’t wait to explore some of these sketches on a larger scale on my next pages. 😃🖌

I hope you had a lovely painting session too! ☺️
