Beach Scenes

Beach Scenes - image 1 - student project

Strugglerd with dry-brush, so next time I will keep a set of dry brushes apart from wet ones. For most, anticipating other uses for smaller pieces, I did a small "draft" first. That was helppful.

Now I can't recall doing this one first, but I think I did. I felt like the line between the water's edge and the grassy area felt too abrupt, so I added a bit of wavy transition. Not perfect. OK with that.

I enjoyed doing this sky until my thumb planted on the piece. Tried to fix, but had to live with it. Wish I knew how to make it into a sunset or sunrise. Also, I need practice to get a straight line at the horizon.

My favorite. By the time I got here, I was getting the hang of things, and I love the color of that water! Made me happy to see some improvement during just one class! (Thanks, Anna!)

Not sure how that beach got in the middle of the left mini, but maybe the viewer was on a beach looking out at shore and sky? In two of these mini paintings, I added some flowers just to see how they looked. The whole project was fun, and I still have paper waiting for a few attemps to paint some of the images in the handout.
