SLOW ART CHALLENGE: Stylised botanicals with colour choice and composition made easy.

Hi Kathy, Personally I think it's rather lovely and thank you for sharing. Because most cultures tend to read from the left side to the right, we get used to seeing things in a certain way. If you were to flip the image the other way around, it would probably make more sense to you visually. As you've set the composition slightly off centre, try painting a small bowl or apple or a leaf on a separate piece of paper, cut it out, and lay it on the painting, as if you were going to collage it. You'll be amazed at the difference.

Well, the flipping was interesting.  I will give the bowl/cut out a go and post later.  Thanks for your suggestions!

I feel like the balance is off. the composition makes it feel like its going to fall over to the left. Im loving the colors. just needs some weight on the right side somehow. the vase is my favorite. i'd totally buy that vase and put a big sunflower in it every summer.

I feel that!  (The falling over part).

I gave this another whirl and find it lacking maybe on the table or off to the left of the vase.  Idk. I like the shadow. Idk
