Path Of Struggle

She was like that fish that kept on swimming

No matter the paths or curves that came along the way

She was that fish that kept on swimming

Even with a broken fin

The love for life more than the ordinary person

Even with a chair, fitting her scrawny body she didn't

Complain about over sleeping or

Under sleeping, missing homework and all that nonsense

Her heart, tender loving and her smile illuminated her face

Otherwise not so sunny looking-

Everyday was the best day of her life

She'd say in a little stutter that I miss hearing every time I wake up

Working with her lifted my spirits higher

Than any kite in the sky

As I tried to repeat those words she used to say

As she convinced me she was really having the best day of her life,

So when the time came she told me goodbye

As I realized I would be picking up a plane not too long after

As our faces may never cross paths

She told me, "you're my pal"

She was that fish that kept on swimming

Even with a broken fin and I learned

That though her body seemed broken

Maybe it was only different and when that happens

We unfortunately assume that it is
