I actually worked backwards.  I did the large graphite leaves first because l love the way the graphite bleeds when the watercolor hits it.  Then I did the gold leaves with a uniball pen. Then the watercolor circles in some early-autumn colors. ( Yes, I’m in Texas, so late October is still mostly green.) Then the gold dots & marks…because gold. Then a brown tempra stick for a bit more contrast.
