From inspiration to illustration!
I loved the process of working from an inspiring subject to a final piece. I loved the imagery provided in class. There are so many images on Pinterest too, a bit overwhelming really!
I'll show my gold colors first:

I probably have more, but we have been remodeling our house and lots of my art supplies are still in boxes... So this is mostly my watercolors.
I landed on this color palet:

Some of my practice pages:

You can already see my final pieces starting to take shape.

The next image is also a practice page, but I got carried away and couldn't stop adding stuff to it :) Oh, and the color palet was ditched in favor of some pink ink on my desk!

All this (and more) led to these final illustrations:

I loved the pomegranate shape, a decorative element in the byzantine imagery, but I gave it the center of the stage! I love it for it's fruitiness and fresh vibe. I love painting botanicals and I enjoyed doing the geometric frame too.
Last I did the fish. I missed the vibrant gold in the pomegranate painting, so I knew I wanted to feature that here.

This is such a happy illustration for me: the yellow, gold and blue together make me happy! And more than with the pomegranate I feel I've kept it spontaneous and that shines through as well. I sometimes struggle to keep that in a final piece and feel I like my practice sketches better (see pomegranate in first practice page). Does that happen to you too?
Thanks, Ania, for another lovely class. I appreciate all the work you put in your classes, know they are valued and loved!
