Hello! I’d like to give a short review of this course. I’m an animator with a personal goal to create my own original character like Studio Wrong.

THE COURSE - CHARACTER MODELING

Day One vs One Day (WIP) - image 2 - student projectThis is a great course for learning 3D character modeling. The instructor delivers the material concisely yet clearly, making it easy to understand. Through this course, I’ve learned a lot about proper topology. The character I created won’t stop here—having good topology means the rigging can perform better, and so can the animation.

 

THE CHALLENGE - THE HAIR

The biggest challenge in character creation is hair. Unfortunately, it’s still quite tricky to get right. In this course, I learned how to create hair using paths (I’m quite sure many people use this technique rather than directly modeling with shapes. idk cmiiw). This was a great new insight for me since I rarely use paths for modeling (usually just for tracking or making objects follow a path, lol).

note: the cloth is from cloth sim. so just ignore it lol

 

TEXTURING - UV TEXTURING

I also learned how to use UV texturing—understanding how UV unwrapping works and how to place textures correctly using a UV grid before starting texturing. For those who are skilled in painting or using brushes, UV texturing can be a great foundation to bring a character to life without relying on complex node shaders or geometry setups.

 

ONE DAY -

This course really helped me understand good topology basics (especially for the face and hands) that are important for rigging and the others (Texturing, Hair). That’s all from me—And here’s my “One Day” character (WIP), created as part of what I learned from this course. I hope you like it!
