Mission Control
An interior designer friend of mine would always emphasize adding "mission control" space when working with male clients. This included a comfy chair, side table robust enough to hold remotes, books, and other needed ephemera, as this was hte spot most likely to be occupied by the client on a daily basis.
I've chosen a crescent swivel chair, an MCM space age reading light, and a mission style slat table, and styled simply with a low maintenance succulent. The pot adds a nice pop of color. The table is large enough to hold remotes, my current book, a book of crosswords, and a coffee mug without appearing cluttered.
This is usually where I watch TV or scroll on the phone. Bonus when the puppy or kitty (or both!) sit in my lap.
