Magical nature

Magical nature - image 1 - student project

I really love this style of art, and it was such a joy to play with shapes and patterns and textures to create stylised trees and clouds. To save paper, for my try-outs I used an old unfinished painting that just had a wash on it, and experimented with various ways of using different brushes to make marks for leaves and grass and flowers. I quite like how that looks and I might fill in the rest of the spaces with more practice leaves and grass. I also wanted to paint a lighthouse so I tried different ways of using the techniques to make rocks, and used the moonlight technique for the lighthouse beams. I liked the sky with just stars, and although I thought about putting in some clouds and fog, I decided in the end that I might mess it up. (Learning when to stop is another thing I need practice with!)

Thank you so much giving us this fun and informative course, you're a lovely teacher and artist!
