Mixed Media Stencil Fun ala Jasper Johns

Here's another exploration of mixed media layering and marks inspired by Jasper Johns. I love the areas where the book page imagery peeks through the acrylic paint. :)

It was another fun mixed media art session working back into some painted paper with stencils of various sizes (I discovered I had more stencils :) ), colored pencil, Posca, charcoal, soft pastel, Sharpie, and acrylic paint.

I love how this one turned out. It's always so fun to lean into the color scheme of the painted paper and build up from there through color matching and playing with values.

I had so much fun building up my mixed media layers for these artworks. And it was wonderful to use my painted papers in a new way outside of collaging with them.
