Punch Needle Basics - How to Create a Punch Needle Project in a Swoosh

Oh my goodness! That is the cutest bear design. Thank you so much for sharing it with everyone. <3Was is easy to punch the linen-like fabric that you used? It looks lovely.

this is a tote bag that I decided to experiment on before working on better fabric. For small projects like this it was quite alright as I was able to control a small piece of the bag. For bigger projects, not so much. I have started punch needling a willow tree on the other side of the bag and the fabric slips a lot.

I have similar experience of dense fabrics similar to yours. But for small projects it's not too hard to punch, like you said. :) I'd love to see the tote bag which both designs, once you have finished it. (If you don't mind sharing it :D. )

sure, I'll share it with you :D the material is not so dense, it's quite easy to punch through. I don't think my hooping abilities are there yet as my hoops keep slipping off. But I will be ordering monk's cloth for my next projects

This is going to be such a lovely bag once finished. :D You mentioned, that the hoop keeps slipping off. That is most likely not due to your abilities to use it but rather the type of hoop you are using. Based on your last photo, I'm assuming you are using a smooth wooden hoop. I have used them too and also in my experience they come off very easily. If you have a possibility to find a hoop that is specifically designed for punch needle, the punching will become easier. Those hoops have a ridge and a groove in them and once the hoop is closed properly they prevent the fabric from slipping. Morgan no-slip hoops are brilliant for this. Many places sell them. I ordered mine somewhere online, but at least nosliphoops.com sells them. Happy punching! :D

hello again :D I have included my willow tree in the project. I hope you like it

Wow, the tree is very impressive. Really gorgeous design. ❤️
