Sketching Wild Flowers

I love sketching on location, especially observing the plants and nature around me. Recently, I went out to sketch the wildflowers in a meadow near where I live. I usually ride my bike to a spot, then stop and sketch whatever I find interesting.

I take my time to observe the plants, soaking in everything around me—the wind, birdsong, bugs wandering by, the warmth of the sunshine. To me, this is what life is all about.

Sketching on location is such a vivid and immersive experience. I notice so many small details that I would completely miss if I were just looking at a photo. I absolutely love it.

I don’t just bring home a drawing; I carry the whole experience with me—the feelings, the atmosphere, the moment.

Thank you for your class, and thank you for reminding me how important it is to spend more time sketching on location.

For this particular sketch, I completed the painting at home by adding some ink details and the names of the plants.
