I love how you have painted him swimming in the opposite direction.  His face also looks different and really interesting.  I love how you've captured the highlights at the bottom of the shell. He's gorgeous!

Hi Bonnie!Excelent question! I use Windsor &amp; Newton. And for that background, believe it was a mix of cerulean blue with yellow ochre darkened with payne's grey. A bit of viridian may have been thrown in as well but I'm not absolutely sure. I'm just now getting into the habit of making a color chart for my projects but for the past ones, I just did my best to match whatever was instructed by the teacher.I hope that's somewhat helpful. 

It is a wonderful blue for the water.

I absolutely love using yellow ochre to mix with blues for perfect natural greens.  This is gorgeous
