Drawer

Learning to draw without fear

I have a small room to myself and when I paint I work standing at this chest of drawers. It is filled with art stuff.

What helps me to get started is to put on my painting shirt.

I did the flower and the dog in between your lessons. And at the end I did your "white over".

I found that during the painting I went back and forth between tension and freedom. When something doesn't work, I get stuck for a moment. When something works or surprises me, I feel freedom. Also noteworthy: the moment I thought 'it isn't good enough', I started to experiment more because it didn't matter anymore. (Normally I would have stopped here but thanks to the timer I continued.) And good things actually came out of it. And what helps is that I dare more with the cheap stuff than with my expensive art materials.

And I felt good afterwards.

What I retained from Kolbie Blume is to write down what I Loved & Learned after making art. Your evaluation is a good addition to this.

Thank you Catherine for another great class.
