Ooh, a bonsai is such a great subject! I love how the trunk spirals up through the centre, and the branches feel lush and striking! You say you think it is empty… is there a particular bit you’re feeling isn’t working? I think it works really well, but here are a few ideas if you want to keep experimenting: If it’s the background you’re wanting to add to, you could try breaking it up in the lower half.  Perhaps you could try using thin lines to create abstract shapes and colouring them in complimentary or rainbow colours. (I’m suggesting thin lines so that they contrast with the bolder tree and don’t compete with it too much.) If it’s the tree trunk that you feel needs a boost, maybe you could experiment with drawing tree bark lines on top of it with a white pen. Or, if you create a second version, you could play with making the trunk colourful. Just like you created the leafy areas in greeny yellow tones, perhaps you could have jagged “tree bark” shapes in the trunk, coloured in warmer tones.
