Whenever I set out to learn a new skill I like to gift my first finished project to someone I know/that means something to me, so when I chose to start knitting this scarf I had my mother choose the yarn she liked the look of... So I used a medium weight yarn instead of chunky/bulky yarn and though I used the wrong weight I think it came out looking quite nice for a first finished piece.
