I chose this sketchbook from Michaels for two reasons: affordability and size. I currently have three of them now. Two of them were for October drawing prompts as I took part in drawtober and octobear to improve more straightforward illustration and more cartoony illustration.

One of the challenges I had was using pen. Pen is my medium that needs most improvement. I need to focus on consistency of shading, especially in hatching styles.

In contrast, finding unique subjects and giving them life is something I found as a strength. Further, I seem to do well when I slow down and really focus on texture.

The goal is to incorporate sketches close to every day; realistically given my job expectations, at least 3-4 days per week. If nothing else, I will maintain consistency in my practice.
