Pinot Noir Poster
I decided to use the class to create a poster for my sister who happens to share the same birthday as me. She also loves TV quotes. After finding out that the Kardashian quotes weren't the spectacular resource I'd hoped for I went for Titus Andromedon from Unbrakable Kimmy Schmidt and his song "Pinot Noir" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6yttOfIvOw).
My word generation list led me to think about a camp, confetti, celebratory, pop video, wine, retro, childish, trashy, flamboyant, silly, colourful inspired poster featuring part of the lyrics ('Pinot Noir, Au Revoir, Caviar") which I then incorporated into the final imagary.
For this project I was mainly looking at naive block illustrations and retro typography as well as rithograph. I really like the contraint risograph gives you in terms of colour and also the look and feel of the prints I found.
This is an idea I abandoned at the start but I'm keen to work on again. It's an amorphic typography created from Titus Dancing. I abandoned this after the clarity seemed lost and coninued with a simple bottle and caviar spoon layout after having problems marrying the composition and text.
I then decided to go with a cut out effect by simply scanning card cut outs and overlaying this with a texture after tracing the shapes in illustrator. I followed this by tracing the confetti ink blots and hand inked text then using a screen print texture from google to complete it.
Some revisions and development...
And here's the final. I'm still in the process of developing it further so any suggestions for improvement are more than welcome!

Following advice from classmates I've experimented with different colours, reducing the confetti and also adding another filter.
Not sure which one I prefer but I'll try a print out soon to see
