Administrative Professional Reflection and Questions

Three categories of assistants exist: administrative assistant, program assistant, and executive assistant. Administrative assistants support an organization or department. They're often found at the front desk. These assistants answer questions on how to do certain processes, direct calls, manage filing systems, manage databases, and do data entry. Program assistants serve those that work in a particular niche of a business. They are the first person go to for questions, remind people of deadlines, and know who does what. Executive assistants work with high-level staff. These individuals make strategic decisions, contact funders, competitors, and those who book travels.

Administrative responsibilities include processing email for themselves and others, scheduling meetings, coordinating events, processing spreadsheets, direct people to documents, invoicing, order office supplies, write memos, create presentations, write speeches, and prepare documents for printing, scanning, and copying.
