I decided to draw one of my favorite pokemon, magicarp. For inspiration on illustration styles, I turned to JRR Tolkein and Crockett Johnson's 'Harold and the Purple Crayon. By combining Johnson's simple line drawing and Tolkein's build-up of layers to create depth, I arrived at my finished drawing.
