After followihg the class and making 'practice' pieces I started out sketching my favourite designs in my art journal.

With the 'rainbow' designs, I went in with Sakura fine liners, and also added the little bee, as it's one of my daughter's favourite puns.

I uses watercolour (my favourite media) instead of pens to colour the designs.

With the first panel, I added details on the lettering and the bee with metallic gold Sakura gelly pen. One the second, I added a colour shift glitter watercolour to add a touch of bling to the focal word.

With the larger faux calligraphy piece, I started almost in reverse by filling in the 'downward strokes' with a mix of matt and a touch of glitter watercolour.

I used to do calligraphy a lot when I was younger, and whilst I love this glass pen set my husband bought me for the holidays, I do use it enough, so a choice a dark pink ink that has a slight duochrome to complete the word.

I love all three of these designs - they're possibly my favourite things I've created so far this year (April 2024).

A few weeks later, I created a different style of wors art to join a collection of nature themed pieces to display in our bedroom (to hide damaged veneer on a large wardrobe). I wouldn't have felt confident enough to include it without this class.
