Is floristry a career for me?

Is floristry a career for me? - student project

I share an image of the first design I made, with the help of a local florist, to give it as a gift. I started reading about flowers in a book called The Flower Book and I was amazed at how many combinations you can make and how the colors interact with each other. I also feel really good when I make people happy, so I see myself in that career.

My answers before watching the videos were:

I am passionate about giving other people gifts and making them feel special
I love gaining trust from others and receiving good feedback, trust, and love

For me, I usually receive natural tasks that require hand/manual work, or
to figure out what is wrong with something that is not working (fix work)

I find it challenging to find an agreement with people and sometimes understand their exact needs. I started getting better at it but it is still hard especially when the people are not open for a calm conversation. I struggle with impatient people.
Tasks that require a lot of talk with multiple people and less action/hands-on.

Five tasks I dislike: explaining things to people, preparing for presentations, answering lots of questions, talking and figuring out the exact needs of the people, running after feedback

People would say I am good at physical workouts, manual work, discipline,
helping others feel happier and safer, being patient and finding solutions in messy environments, resilient, being brave, working alone, helping others in my team

Must have in a career: a good empathetic team, love for what I do, creativity and colors in what I do, being able to select my clients according to the work that I want to do and the people I want to help, having a flexible routine and my boundaries respected, time off to spend with girlfriend

A work environment that makes me happy is a colorful and open space with sounds of nature and cozy, where I can feel connected to the present. With less screen time and more focus on hands-on work. A place where I have a few other people as sensitive as me, where we take care of each other. A place where I am eager to go to every day and my team and clients are happy to have me around. Somewhere that smells good and looks like it is full of my creation everywhere.

Work is important to me because I want to spend my energy doing something that helps the world and other people feel safer and happier in it

My personality: quiet, observant, adventurous, curious, simple, open-minded

About my current job: I like having teammates with an open heart to talk about our struggles, the flexibility to work from home and get some space from other people to focus on my work and myself, and the salary which is good enough to make me comfortable to buy things I like when I create something new

My answers after watching the video were:
I was surprised about how you need to learn how to be very flexible in this area and also good at time management.
It would be good for me to practice more on how to be good at dealing with negative feedback if people aren't that happy with my designs so that I can adapt more to their needs. Perhaps becoming more vulnerable.
Everything about floristry makes me excited, learning about every single flower, and understanding how I can plan the time from ordering them to delivering designs. And I love physical work as it makes me feel achieved when I am moving my body to create things.

Perhaps I would be a bit afraid of surprises in my career, as the example in the course about a last-minute request to deliver an immense design for the next day. I would have to be prepared to have the flexibility to negotiate in those unexpected situations.

I think it is a viable career choice for me if I start only by learning flowers and doing home designs for now. Locally most of the workshops are expensive and only in german, so it is hard for me to already start jumping in random places for an apprentice course. So it is viable if I can take it easy and start from the 5 steps that were mentioned in the last video, so I can get used to the idea of creating designs and having my own portfolio before making it full time and leaving my IT job.
