Exploring new pen & ink styles

Hat & queen ^^

This is my first attempt at trying new pen & ink style that is different to my usual pointillism style (IG: allycoppsart). This illustration was inspired by the children's book 'Each Peach Pear Plum' and I think possesses a child-like quality which I like. I would be open to feedback and learning how to set the backgrounds back a little more, and make the foreground features pop! I used a number of pens from my graphic liner set for this piece.

This was a much quicker illustration I did with a ballpoint pen. I don't know if I like this one - I do struggle to feel like the piece is 'finished' without adding too much detail. I am very detail focused. I wonder if there is any feedback on how I could make this one look better/bring more of the charm out into this pieceExploring new pen & ink styles - image 2 - student project^^ Creature & well

As soon as I heard this prompt, this was the image that came into my head. And, i think I have achieved quite closely to what was in my imagination! I tried to take on feedback and leave the bottom part and backgrounds less detailled. A couple of things I have taken from this image: I'd like to make the hatching styles a little more consistent as i feel it leaves the piece feeling less 'joined up', so will need to practice more hatching styles. I also think I only use the super fine liner for really small lines and softer hatching but i could use it to my advantage more in these pictures for longer lines and creating more depth. On the whole I am quite happy with how this turned out :)
