My Ordinary World

Since my early life, I have had issues with my personality. I am a smart person. According to the psychologists, I was way above the IQ of a regular kid. However, I am a shy person who does not interact with people very often. Which brought me countless issues. When I was in school, I was the center of the bully's attention. It never crossed the line of insults and nicknames. However, I had a psychologist for 7 years until I was 12, and I moved to a different school. I was brilliant, but the teachers never gave me good grades because I was not talking to my classmates. This matter impacted me so badly that I developed self-sabotage, anxiety, and depression. Then I went to a new school. I tried to be different, but it was impossible. So, I decided to live in my inner world because why not? I would never be able to change who I was, consequently, I became absorbed by my feelings and thoughts. I used to spend hours imagining my adventures away from this world. I wanted something magical to happen to me and escape to a different world. This was the trend in my life until I finished high school. Also, self-sabotage increased, since I learned that low grades people had more friends. Likewise, my physical appearance was considered “too pretty” in my 15th, perfect body shape, blue eyes, and long beautiful hair, completely the opposite of the normal beauty in my town hence I started to gain weight and become an ugly person to fit among my bad called friends. It never works. Then, university season came. I was forced to decide what I would be doing for the rest of my life. Thus, nothing was interesting for me. Finally, I decided to become a Hotelier because the career promised an international internship. My internal me decided, “At least I could travel once in my life”.
When I started my studies, it was easy and fun. Learning new languages, about service and luxurious hotels. I made friends with my techniques. It was hard to speak with other people, but it was a must. I finished my first year and I started my first internship. After only 2 weeks, I dropped it. I felt sick of being in an office answering the phone, also it was so hard for me to talk to others, even on the phone. I spoke with my boss, and she told me to think about changing my career because a hotelier's life was not right for me and my personality. A new breakdown showed up. I was devastated as usual, with the feeling of being useless, and my life was pointless. What was my life purpose? I used to cry every night in silence, asking myself the same question with no answers.
At that moment, was when “work and travel programs” appeared in my life. Work and travel programs are paid trains in different countries. Maybe, could that change the course of my life?
