Lost My Wallet

This is just a short essay of a true event that happened to me some years ago.
Lost My Wallet – By Brian C. Leggett
Over three years ago, I lost my wallet after leaving it in the bathroom at home.
When I realized where I left it, I went back to retrieve it. But it was gone. In it was my state ID, security guard license, other licenses/ certifications from the NY fire department, and other things. I couldn’t work without those cards because a security guard must have those credentials just in case of an inspection by field supervisors.
I borrowed money from family and friends to get copies of them. I was out of work for several weeks as I had to wait until copies of them came in the mail. Once I had them all back, I was able to return to work.
A few months later while helping my mother clean the apartment, I found my old wallet hidden in a drawer in the living room. It turned out that my niece, who was upset with me months before, had taken it and hidden it to get back at me. My mother purchased a new wallet for me afterwards, but I was a bit relieved to have found the previous one.
