Find Your Lines
This class caught my eye, as I’m interested in the idea of finding my personal style. These exercises have been interesting to do, and while I’m not sure that I’m honing in on a style, I’m having so much fun playing with different media. I am getting some ideas about what styles I like best, for sure. Intend to keep exploring this, but here’s what I’ve done so far. Oh, and this is all done in Procreate on an iPad Pro with Apple Pencil.
Warm-up

Words
This was a cool exercise.
Household object
I started out with a pair of scissors, but when I realized how many times I’d be drawing them, I switched to something more charming . . . A little porcelain owl figurine. It was a lot of fun to try so many techniques. I starred the ones I like best.

Final project
I loved drawing the still life in different styles, and was surprised to see which ones I found most successful. I really like the watercolor perfect brush.

I also thought it might be enlightening to redraw something I’d drawn before, to play with styles. I mostly draw wildlife, so I I thought I’d play around with this Great White Shark. I’ve included the reference photo, and my original render (top left), along with some new ones. They’re not all fully rendered, but I think I got each of them far enough along to see if I liked them. My favorite: the subtractive one.
