Practice makes (almost) perfect

So first off: this is the first thing that i did with Macrame, ever and I don't create a lot of stuff with my hands in general.

I did the white or rather beige one first and as you can probably see i did a lot of mistakes. It is too tight, some knots are wrong and it is just not even at all. It can still be used as a coaster though, as the cup flattens it enough.

What i learned is, that if a knot doesn't look right just getting it really tight doesn't make the result look nicer. Probably clear for many, but it is something I did differently during the second attempt. I would just untangle them and tie again. And I noticed I got a feel for when a knot is right or not and how i have to tie it.

The second one i attempted is the blue one and as you can see it already looks much cleaner and more even. Even though there are still many mistakes in there, I am much happier with it. Seeing the improvement was great.

One thing I don't get right yet is the ... fray? I forgot what it is called and it is not my native language, but I mean the strings at the ends. Somehow they stay clustered together and I can't comb them out as cleanly as what i have seen in here and in this video.

Just wanted to share my progress journey to encourage people who think they are no good with their hands :D

Thanks a lot for this class, I had a lot of fun diving into Macrame with your course.
