Let your Imagination Come out to Play

What a great class!  I've been coloring with crayons lately so decided to do the exercises with crayons.  I brought out my inner five year old. I've been loving pink and green together so my theme was pink and green.

For the first exercise, I decided to see if crayon colors combine together to create a new color.  I colored a base color then colored pink and green over it.  It doesn't create a new color, however with the blue and purple I thought it was an interesting effect.

For the second exercise, I used the "paper" my shoes came wrapped in.  It is like a very thin foam and had oval logos on it.  I played with the ovals.  It wasn't easy to color on but it was fun.  I also colored on a scrap of cross stitch Aida fabric.  Loved the texture.  This has me interested in coloring/painting on fabric.

For the third exercise, I used an embroidery needle, embroidery floss, and a ballpoint pen.  I used the needle to scape away trees on green.  I also tried scratching brown crayons and coloring the tree trunks.  That didn't go too well.  I colored over the embroidery floss under the paper.  I wanted to see what it would be like to write on crayon on the page and felt that came out well.  Has me coming up with ideas.

Thank you for this fun class!
