This is the picture I started with.

 

 This was what I ended up with after tracing with the pen, I didn't notice at the time but the picture I was tracing from got moved accidently. thought I'd show what can go wrong.

 

 This is the final product. I added some extra lines on the paws after, as i felt it would be easier to achieve with the shape tool. I also added a gradient to the body so you can see the difference without me having to have used a outline. Also I couldn't seem to add in the 3rd paw and tail you can see from the picture as it just looked weird and out of place, so I made the decision to leave them out.
