Thank you so much and thanks again for putting the time to review every transition!! I'll do my best to continue practicing and implement your feedback into my next set.Also, I'll use my chance here to ask a few questions about counting music:1. Is there a way to see bars / phrases in Rekordbox visually? Maybe that would help to transition between songs smoother too.2. A follow-up question on the previous one, how can I start counting music when I'm in the middle of a phrase? If I could see it visually, then the problem is solved.3. I was thinking to invest in 'Mixed in Key' software, I think it would be super cool to split my DJ set in keys.. Transitioning occasionally from dark tones to something brighter. What do you think? :) Do you have experience with this software, is it worth the money and effort? Cheers, K

Hi Kris,  
1.  yes you can see them but they are numbered starting from your first cue point so sometimes the visual numbers are wrong, so you got to trust your ear.
2. Do this exercise, for ear training, play a song, and start counting from the first beat 1.32 (even for hip hop), and your ear will catch the changes that happen in every phrase, choose a clean and simple song so your ears learn on easily... for hip hop u count kick-snare kick snare ... as 1-2-3-4- if you have issues counting give me 2-3 songs and ill help you with it.
3. mixedinkey i love it, i use it since the  early days, its kind of worth it, if you starting out, it does help... its not 100% always correct, but it definately helps in the early stages.

One more thing - I'm planning to buy DJ headphones (as you could see I was playing without ones..) 

What headphones would you recommend, that are affordable but also great in terms of performance? :)

u cant't go wrong, solid, clear, comfy.. yes more ear and less eyes you will enjoy it more and train better.

also, 20+ years for me, there is always things to learn, never stop learning, its always progress, moving forward. Also hip hop is tough, very techical, i got it much easier with techno. But many of my students here in Dubai are hip hop trap etc... and just like everything else, practice makes perfect. Am 100% confident you will built all the skills you need and then some. The more time you put in, the faster you get there. I mean you are pretty much there, we just need to focus on the small details. But again, these small details and intricacies, are only audible to us, the crowd usually doesn't pick them up, they are there to be entertained, and you do that already really well. Am pumped for you!!

Hi Kris, watched the vid on Youtube, thanks for the intro and background info, this is really helpful and great to see you are enjoying the course. Am glad to be a part of your journey. ok here we go. first transition: creative, i see all your buttons and screen grab thanks for that. If i can suggest, if you will do any scratches, they got to be on time and tight, and best to do during a song playing on top not right after a transition, unless ur doing a spin back... second transition flawless, and the scratch much tighter, shorter in time, and u got the spinback right. 3rd transition, this so far my favorite transition, i like cuts and fast transitions, hip hop is built on fast changes of energy... Also i like that you layer effects through out, just remember that with effects less is more, you are not over doing it, but its easy to get lost and over do it, and then effects loose their wow/surprise factor. 4th transition: all your songs fit together nicely, and these two fit perfectly. i also notice that you have programmed your effects on the pads, and that controller is great at that, i can hear your favorite effects. not sure if the speeding up and then slowing down fit in this particular transition, or the execution of it could be better,... i can suggest also... 5th transition: i can suggest also, that when moving from song to song, the energy needs to flow too, what i mean is, if you playing all the songs from the start, the initial energy is low, so imagine every new song the energy of your set drops and picks up again... it might be easy or easier to mix 2 intros or 1 extro and an intro together, but the energy levels are low, imagine, people want to go on a journey with you, you control them, keep them at a high burn them out, and then drop them on purpose, to pick them up again... imagine this drop and pick up of energy, happens 1-2 times every 1 hour or so, not every 3 minutes. ok 6th transition, i get your skill and your expression, personal flavor, challenge your self to perfect those mix transitions, and also experiment, to come up with new ones too, study the hip hop djs you like and model after them, pick up a few things and make them yours. 7th transition: sick we picking up energy, cool looping going on there. the cut to the next track could be cleaner 8th transition: ok the last 2-3 songs if you, your energy, ok i lost track :) 20:23M, sick transition, 23:42 transition, excellent, use of filters to avoid vocal clashes, perfect. 25:30 another great transition 29:11 yea fresh mix, see i could be wrong but i feel you intentionally lowered the energy to pick it up again, which is a great way to create impact.General feedback: i want your next mix to record the audio also, within recordbox, press the record button and then align everything in your vid editing software... i can hear clearly but i don't feel the bass :( hahaa if you don't know how to record from recordbox let me know its easy, i can see it on your screen. Also have Q on and MT on, will help you for sure, Q keeps things quantized, and MT keeps the tone of the song, when you speed up or slow down (try it, if you dont like it then disable it).ok so, my comments above, i wrote them as i was listening to the set, again, take them with a grain of salt, am sure you may not agree with me and that is 100% fine, take what you like and improve on it. Thank you for taking the time to go over the course, and putting this set for me. It means alot to me to see and hear my creatives. Continue with parts 5-8, send me another mix, also, if you got the time, do a mix a month a put it on youtube, do 2 a month if you got time. share your talent with the world...Something random, i know you are from Lithuania, but your last name sounds Greek, unless am pronouncing it wrong.
