Handlettered type

DAY 1

I've always wondered how to create really fun type - so this class looked perfect. I began by sketching out my skeleton alphabet and later saw that some of my letters were out of proportion.

Never mind! I redid them quickly and continued...

Four hours later, I finished the course except for the project which I might do later. I'm not saying that to put anyone off, it's just that I really wanted to get the hang of all the techniques so I watched the videos several times while sketching. The sheet above this is my first attempt and I especially liked the sketchy effect of those cursives at the end - something to explore further.

DAY 2

Ta dah! I completed my first ever sort of vintage style poster. Thanks to Jane Snedden Peever for presenting a lot of information/technique in a series of actionable steps. I might be a little bit addicted to this now I'm getting the hang of the technical stuff. I have so many ideas for what I am going to do with these skills!
