Keszthely is the oldest town in the Balaton region of Hungary. Its university, where I studied, began its operation on July 1, 1797.  “The Georgikon”, which was Europe’s first independent institution of agricultural higher education. So this university has a history. 

This castle is the Festetics Palace, which obtained its final neo-baroque form in 1887. It has 111 halls and rooms, this is one of the largest palaces in Hungary and we have some ;-).

The castle has a gorgeous two-level library housing over 100,000 volumes, which were miraculously saved from destruction during the 2nd world war. It's a must-see.
