Website Re-Do
Before this course, I had decided to make a simple personal website that could house all of my publication links and not much else. After this course, I've realized how important a great website is to establishing a personal brand and making professional connections. I've included some pictures of my "Before" website that I had previously made on Google Sites (which I quickly realized had very limited creative options), and then some pictures of of my "After" website which I have newly created on Wix. I haven't taken the plunge and bought a domain yet, so the website URL is a little clunky at the moment. There are still a few kinks with the blog and with the size of the poetry journal icons.
Some key actions I did to make my website more appealing:
1. Chose a more modern and simplistic template that better reflects myself and my work.
2. Created a more visually interesting home page that showcases my publications.
3. Added a more professional "About Me" section alongside "Work with me" links and Social Media buttons.
4. Created blog content using an actual blogging tool that will help streamline my material.
I am a poet and writer based in Manchester, UK who often blogs about recent writing-related events and topics. If this interests you, please visit my newly redesigned website https://madisonwhite223.wixsite.com/madisonwhitewrites
