I made square wire from 12 gauge bronze wire. It ended up being closer to 1.5mm rather than 2mm.  That made soldering the earring posts a little more challenging since there wasn't as much surface area available.  The bronze is a little dark because I didn't pickle the earrings, but instead used a brass brush to clean them.  I'm looking forward to making these in copper!
