Hi, I'm Susse,

an illustrator and surface pattern designer with many years of industry experience. Originally from Scotland, I've had the privilege of living in several locations around the world including London, Sydney, and currently, Älmhult, Sweden - a town famed for a certain global home furnishing brand.

I've spent years honing my skills both in-house for print studios and as a freelance designer. I'm currently represented by Creative Sparrow, a UK agency specialising in art licensing, branding, advertising, and publishing sectors. My primary focus is licensing designs for giftware products, greeting cards, and gift wrap. You can find my designs on the shelves of major UK supermarkets, and they've been licensed to companies across Europe, the UK, and the USA. Notable clients include Calypso Cards, American Greetings, Joann stores, TK MAXX, and Funky Pigeon.

With over 30 years of experience in design, I'm passionate about sharing my knowledge. I've taught at the Edinburgh College of Art, live workshops at the Ikea museum, and adult education school , with live workshops in the town where I live in Sweden. These workshops covered topics including illustration techniques, surface pattern design, greeting card design, and how to create a daily sketchbook practice. 

Though camera-shy, I'm deeply passionate about fostering creativity in others, whether for a fun hobby or to enhance artistic practices. My classes focus on both analogue and digital skills for illustration and surface pattern design, with a strong emphasis on the giftware market. I aim to share my extensive knowledge, including my tips for using Procreate and Adobe Photoshop.
