Are you up for a bite-sized challenge?

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to draw 10 selfies in 10 days in no more than 30 minutes a day.

Why?

Because drawing portraits is a thing--a thing that lots of people have all sorts of resistance around--and what a great way to overcome your resistance (and fear) of something than to do it with the support of a group.

It would be easy to say, “Well I can’t because there’s no one around.” Or, “I don’t want to bother anyone.” Or, “Asking a stranger to pose for a portrait... creepy.” This is why our challenge is focused on SELF portaits! No excuses, friends! Wherever you are, there you are (So I’ve heard). ;P

How?

The fun starts Tuesday, May 3.

Set your timer for 30 minutes.

Draw one selfie a day for 10 days in your sketchbook.

Try different angles. Try different mediums. Try different expressions.

See if you can capture your mood for the day!

No need to upload in the classroom. Just post on Instagram and tag me @riasharon #RSselfiesketch I’ll round them up and post the whole gallery on my blog.

Prizes?

Why yes! One lucky participant’s will be drawn randomly for a year of Skillshare Premium and another will win a 30-min one-on-one art mentoring session with me (on Skype or Google Hangout).

Then on May 3, watch your email for the first Workshop prompt.

Do I need a Premium Membership to participate in the challenge?

Yes, you’ll need to sign up for a Premium Membership in order to enroll in the class and participate in the challenge. Upgrade to a Premium Membership here, starting with a 14-day free trial.

Can I still join even if the challenge has started already?

It’s only 10 days so mark your calendar and play along for the duration!

Can I still take the class even after the challenge has ended?

Yes! You can still enroll in Sketchbook Magic or Sketchbook Magic II after the challenge ends.

How do I submit my challenge sketches?

Post one selfie a day for 10 days (May 3-May 12) on Instagram with hashtag #RSselfiesketch and tag @riasharon

Do I have to live in the U.S. to participate?

No, you can participate from anywhere in the world!

How will winners be selected?

Winners will be selected randomly from the qualified entries (anyone who posts 10 selfies during the workshop).
