Worst realistic Drawing

Worst realistic Drawing - student project

Worst realistic Drawing - image 1 - student projectI attempted to draw a realistic nose for the first time with shading. I just started drawing again after many years of not doing it. I've just had a recent pull towards following my creative desires again. My goal is to draw my family members by December, so that I can give them thoughtful Christmas gifts, and even though I'm at the early stages, this drawing still set me back a bit because I was quite disappointed how skewed it turned out.

My inner critic was vocal then and uploading it now, I still hear it--though surprisingly a bit less. I only shared this drawing with my husband, I didn't want to share it with anyone else in my family or friends group since I found it so terrible. But after following this class, I think this is such a safe space to share my "worst" drawing even though a small part of me is still embarrassed; and looking at it now, I see that it's not perfect, but my motivation and energy are leading me in the right direction. There's also something comforting in seeing other people share their "worst" ___. The beautiful thing with creativity is that it's part of a journey and there's always the unknown of what incredible thing will arise in the end. I enrolled in the "Getting Started with Drawing" here on Skillshare, so I'm starting back at the beginning to make sure I have the basics down before I attempt another realistic drawing, so I don't have a "best" drawing yet--but I'm definitely working towards it and not giving up.

But I do also enjoy knitting. Though since I don't do it consistently, some of my projects turn out a bit undesirable, since I have to become used to the correct tension, etc. Anyway I think this is my "best" sock to date. A bit embarrassing to share since knitting socks are old school, but for some reason I love making them. Also I've seen other people's knitted socks on social media, etc. and they looked "even better," so my inner critic is saying "this is pretty good, but could be definitely better." "Are you sure you want to give this to someone to wear, is this good enough or are they going to be disappointed?" I hear that voice and yet I'm very proud of this project and I already know who is going to receive this (with its pair of course).
