White Horse

Hi Maria,

I want to say a huge thank you! Your incredible classes have helped me grow so much as a watercolor artist, and I can see how much I’ve learned from your teachings in this painting. I always found horses incredibly difficult to paint and I needed some more practice in graphite till I had the confidence to work on this large watercolor format!

Now, that it's been two years that I started painting I try to use different references to challenge myself or at least change them somehow. In this piece, I applied your methods of wet on wet, layering, glazing, soft blending, and using transparent colors, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. While I used my own reference, the core techniques that made this painting possible all come from your guidance. I want to repaint it in a few months when my skills improved more :).

I had some problems with the paper though, there are several soft scratches in the upper part of the sky. I am not sure why because I used the same roll of paper before. Maybe because I wetted both sides of the paper for painting the background and after doing so I placed the painting on a dry towel?
