This mural collage was made specially made for my altar. I wanted a symbol that could communicate my spiritual connection with life and this one came to life inspired by the textile art of the Q'ero communities of Perú. 

Light and dark are opposite forces that are interconnected, in a constant and natural rhythm. They are not at war, they are two halves of the whole. The upper half symbolises the light, with the sun's rays radiating outward. The lower half symbolises the dark, the shadow that moves inward.

I decided to paint every shape using gradients to create a stronger sense of interconnection, so this class is also about blending two and three colours together.
