Watercolour wash with birds

Here's my practice graduated wash with 2 colours, wet on dry on the left, wet on wet on the right. I don't think I used enough pigment, so the wet on wet was even more wishywashy and I don't like it so much.  But I practised my birds and rather like them!

The main 3-colour wash worked a bit better in terms of depth of colour, but I'd have liked to get more blending between the colours, I guess it wasn't wet enough.  I enjoyed doing the birds but would have placed them better if I'd concentrated more on the composition than technique. So much to think of, while trying to be free and easy! (for some reason I can't get my 2nd painting the right way up, the website keeps turning it upside down!).

It's great to see you do the project then try it myself - really helpful and enjoyable.
