Water Lily

Finished, but would want to do this one again down the road. Always enjoy your classes Chris. I’m such a fan of your art and style of painting. Your classes are always calm and relaxing, so it makes it easy for me to spend my time where needed.

I still struggle with large background wet on wet, especially when I use Ultramarine Blue from Daniel Smith. It separates so much even on my porcelain pallet, especially when mixed with Permanent Rose. It’s like I can’t get a smooth wash with this color. Time to invest in Winsor & Newton Ultramarine which is less granular and Practice, practice, practice!!!!

So my background and the shadows of the leaves turned out not to my liking. The shadows are just overworked, as I wasn’t finding it easy to get the right colors or blend smoothly. (Practice, practice, practice).  I do love how the lily itself turned out, although I didn’t have a good start with the stamens.

Yes practice is where it’s at.  I think I should just try parts of some of your classes to help work on my technique described above.

Thanks for the relaxing class. See you next time!
